Speed and Strength Reviews

Our gear isn’t made to sit on a shelf—it’s designed to ride hard, take hits, and keep you looking sharp. Hear from real riders who’ve put Speed and Strength gear through its paces and came out impressed.

I’ve been riding for over two decades, and I’ve owned gear from just about every brand out there. I grabbed the Off the Chain 2.0 Textile Jacket because I needed something rugged, affordable, and protective without looking like I was headed to a MotoGP race. From the first ride, I knew this jacket was built with riders like me in mind. The AR-600 textile is heavy-duty but not stiff, and it broke in fast. The fit is spot-on—I’m 6’1", 210 lbs., and the XL fits like it was tailored for me. I love how the waist and sleeve adjusters let me dial it in without feeling restricted. The real test came last month when I was riding a curvy backroad just outside of Flagstaff. A deer jumped out, I swerved, hit some gravel, and went down hard at about 30–35 mph. The jacket took a beating—the shoulder and forearm armor absorbed the impact, and the textile held up better than I ever expected. A few scuffs, sure, but not a single tear or blown seam. I walked away with nothing more than bruises. The built-in spine pad also added a layer of confidence, especially after I inspected the scene and saw how hard I hit. I ride in all seasons, and the removable hoodie liner is a genius touch. It’s great for cooler mornings, and when I get where I’m going, I can take it out and rock the jacket casually. It’s stylish enough to wear off the bike, which is rare for a motorcycle jacket. After all these years of trying brands that never quite delivered, Speed and Strength has won me over. This jacket is now my daily go-to, and I’ve already recommended it to four buddies. Worth every penny—and then some.

I’ve been a firefighter for 13 years, and when I’m off-duty, I ride. Hard. I’ve always been a jacket guy, but I wanted something lighter for summer rides that didn’t sacrifice practicality or protection. I bought the Speed and Strength 1114-0501-0056 Motorcycle Vest on a whim, and I’ve ended up wearing it on nearly every ride since. First off, the build quality is solid—it’s clearly made with tough materials and double stitching throughout. The YKK zipper glides smooth and locks in place without snagging, even after months of constant use. The lockdown waist adjuster is a brilliant feature—it gives me that snug fit without feeling too tight or restrictive, and it keeps the vest from riding up at high speeds. The low-restriction collar makes it comfortable even on 90°F days with sweat pouring down my neck. But the feature that totally sets this vest apart? The open carry side holster. I carry off the bike regularly, but I’ve never had a riding vest that made it this accessible, discreet, and secure. It’s not gimmicky—it’s practical and extremely well-designed. I’ve worn this vest on weekend camping rides, short commutes, and full-day charity rides across state lines. It layers easily over hoodies or armored base layers, and even with a hydration pack strapped on, I never feel like I’m restricted. The reflective trim is just enough to catch headlights without making me look like a traffic cone. I even had another rider at a gas stop ask where I got it because it looked "tactical without trying too hard." If you’re on the fence, let me tell you: this vest punches way above its price class.

I recently picked up the Call To Arms Helmet in Black/Camo, and it has completely elevated my riding experience. I've owned Shoei and Bell in the past, and while they’ve been solid, this helmet stands out for its mix of features, aggressive styling, and price point. Let’s start with the look—this helmet just hits different. The matte black with camo accents turns heads, and I constantly get compliments on it. But beyond aesthetics, it’s packed with function. The shell is made from an advanced thermo-poly alloy that feels sturdy but isn’t too heavy. I often ride 2–3 hours straight, and this lid stays balanced and doesn't cause neck fatigue. The removable chin bar is a game-changer for photo stops—I can pop it off when I’m walking around with my camera gear, then snap it back on for the ride back. Ventilation is where this helmet truly shines. The Air Strike™ direct course system keeps airflow moving even when I’m stuck in traffic or riding slow through the city. On longer trips, especially in humid weather, it keeps my head cooler than any helmet I’ve worn before. The Tri-Tech™ 3-stage sun visor is also a major win—I can flip it down instantly when the sun starts dipping, which is perfect when I’m chasing sunset light for landscape shots. After a few months of use, I’m confident this helmet is built to last. The interior padding hasn’t compressed or gotten funky, and the quick-release chin strap is easy to manage with gloves on. Speed and Strength has created something that blends high-end features with real-world performance. I never thought I’d call a helmet my favorite piece of gear, but this one takes the crown.
